Michael is co-founder and currently Managing Partner of Midlige Richter, LLC. Michael is exclusively focused on assisting medical providers navigate the complex PIP environment. Michael represents large institutional health care systems, facilities, medical practices, solo practitioners and ancillary providers.

Michael has nearly 30 years of practice under his belt, affording him a unique knowledge base to counsel and assist his clients. For over a decade, Michael represented insurance companies in their efforts against health care providers in fraud, anti-kickback, compliance matters, and PIP arbitration. This experience provided him with the knowledge to anticipate and prepare his current clients against the various claims and defenses with which they may be confronted.

Michael served on the Advisory Council to Forthright Solutions Inc., which is the entity administrating all PIP arbitration matters for the State of New Jersey. He has been invited repeatedly by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, pursuant to Executive order #2, to provide advice and views when the Agency is engaged in rule making concerning PIP.

Michael is a frequent lecturer on PIP matters for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He frequently speaks on topics including PIP, Insurance Fraud, Health Care Compliance, and Bad Faith Insurance Practices. His reported decisions include Prupac v. Nardone, 332 N.J. Super. 126 (2000) and Pfenninger v. Hunterdon Central Regional High School, 167 NJ 230 (2001).

Prior to forming Midlige Richter, LLC, Michael was a partner at Rotolo Midlige where his practice included the defense and trial of civil negligence and complex commercial matters, premises liability, auto negligence, complex PIP and health care compliance matters, bad faith claims, insurance fraud matters, and public entity and public official’s liability claims.
